Macular Monitoring and Treatment

There are a number of conditions that can affect the macular including diabetic retinopathy, dry and wet macular degeneration, macular holes and myopic maculopathy. All of these conditions can affect your vision. Usually as we get older, the risks of these conditions increases, although some can happen when younger.

Modern screening has been able to extend beyond the photographs of the macular that were so revolutionary twenty years ago. Today advances in technology and knowledge enable us to offer you closer more accurate monitoring of this and other structures. Closer monitoring enables us to detect conditions sooner than standard tests, so providing potential treatments sooner and improving outcomes.

Macular monitoring can be part of the advanced care, where you choose the macular to be prioritised as part of the following combination of tests:

  • Dilated fundoscopy and visual acuity examinations
  • Visual fields using the Zeiss Humphrey C24-2 and FDT
  • Applanation tonometry, or ICARE
  • Ocular coherence topography ( OCT), of the macular and retina
  • Cannon DGI images of the macular and retina
  • ICARE Tonometry

Should we find evidence of pathology, we will refer you for further tests and possible treatment.

If you want additional features such as your risks of glaucoma monitored with your retinal rim and cornea, choose the Gold eye care package.
